I've lived with animals all my life, and have always been amazed at what what they can teach us. Taking time to listen to them, learning how they see the world, and finding ways to communicate effectively with them is a journey which brings new rewards every day.
As an RSPCA volunteer working with shelter dogs, I've seen the real-life benefits of positive-reinforcement training. I've also seen how, as humans, we can influence how a dog feels, and how much this affects their behaviour and learning. I love applying what I've learned to help people communicate with their pets, have fun together, and develop happy, life-long relationships.
When I'm not studying or teaching, Dougie keeps me busy trying out new dog sports (he says it's important for my professional development) and taking me on long sniffy walks.
